Co-op programmes and a work permit of up to three years

Canada pairs study with paid work: many diplomas and degrees include co-op placements, so you graduate with local experience already on your CV.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit can run up to three years depending on the length of your programme, which is why Canada is the most common choice for students planning to settle.

FAQ

Studying in Canada

Still unsure? One call with a counsellor usually settles it.

Ask us directly
How long is the work permit after I graduate?

The Post-Graduation Work Permit is normally matched to the length of your programme, up to a maximum of three years. Your course must be at a designated learning institution.

What is a co-op programme?

A course with paid work terms built into it. You alternate study blocks with placements in industry, which counts towards your qualification and your experience.

Which intake should I aim for?

September is the largest, January the next. May suits students who need more time to prepare documents or funds. We plan backwards from the intake you choose.

Do I need proof of funds?

Yes. You must show tuition plus living costs for your first year, and the amount is set by IRCC. We tell you the current figure and what documents are accepted.
